The purpose of the Wings of Omaha Track Club is to develop Young Boys and Girls into Young Men and Women, emphasizing the “WHOLE PERSON”. We try to develop our team Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually. We do not measure success by those who have “WON” but by those who have tried their ‘BEST”. The Wings of Omaha is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 18.

1992-1995

The Wings of Omaha originated as the Wings of Moon. The Wings of Moon was founded in April of 1992,with six members on its team.  But the team quickly grew to 32 members in a mear 2 years.  The Wings of Moon track club is in Pittsburgh.  Later in the years, 1995 to be presice, the team went to the Nationals.

Here's who went, where they placed and what they ran... if someone on the list ran more than one race their placement will be in the order on what was run

Before I move on I just want to say that they all ran their races very well, even though it was long ago.  Several of this group ran for Universities and Colleges, played College football and basketball.

1996-1997

Do you know of someone that ran for the Wings on Moon and won four gold medals at the Harrisburg Pennsylvania State track meet?  Well, if you’re not quite sure it's Justin Carter!   Justin Carter got his four gold medals in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and the shot put.  He was in the 13-14 year old age group.  He was also recognized as the outstanding male athlete of the meet.  His 100 meter meet record was broken in 1999, but his 400 meter record still stands today.

1998-2000

The Wings of Moon continued to grow and reached over 150 members. The Club produced several National and State Champions.

While in Pittsburgh Coach Carter had the privilege to coach Lauryn Williams who attended the University of Miami and was Big East Champions as a freshman. Lauryn also made the USA Olympic Team and finished 3rd in the 100 meter Olympics in 2004. In 2005 she was the World game Champion.   Jim Neese also was Big East Champion in the High Jump and Decathlon for 4 years at the University of Pittsburgh.

After the 2000 season Coach Carter accepted a job in Omaha and turned the Wings of Moon over to Coach Willy Cook and Coach Joe Obeldobel.

2001

Coach Rubin Carter and Laura, along with sons Coach Tod Carter and Justin Carter started our current team - Wings of Omaha Track Club in 2001.  In 2002 our first National qualifier LaShawntae Williams represented our team. Every year since the inception of the Wings of Omaha Track Club we have had at least one National qualifier from our team.

"Our success was spread by word of mouth. We don't advertise in newspapers or on T.V. Our kids come to us. This way they want to do It." quotes Rubin Carter, Head coach and President of the Wings of Omaha and Wings of Moon track club.

2002-Now

The National Championships were held in Omaha.  The Wings of Moon and the Wings of Omaha practiced together and sat as a team at the National Championships.  The uniforms are exactly the same.

Coach Carter is extremely proud of this site which is maintain by our (at that time 11 year Taylor)
